Puppy Coco

Coco was one of the "Windsor 10," an unplanned litter of 13 purebred Airedale puppies, the last 10 of which were surrendered to West Coast Airedale Rescue in December 2025. After being vet checked and microchipped Coco and one of her brothers spent a week in foster care, learning the ropes from two older Airedales.
They had a "whee" of a time romping around the backyard, chewing on collard greens, and doing what puppies do best--play/Play/PLAY! Along with a bit of napping too, of course!
A week later, Coco was transported to her furever home in Roseville, which includes human siblings (a 4 yr. old and a 6 yr. old), and a huge backyard where all three can play!
Have a FUN life, Coco!!!
Puppy Wilf
Thor (now Wilf) was one of the "Windsor 10," part of an unintended litter of 13 Airedale puppies born in August 2025 and surrendered to WCAR in mid-December.

During his first night with WCAR his foster mom found a concerning bump on his head while giving him what was probably his first bath ever! Thor's sister was in San Jose with another foster mom who is married to a retired veterinarian. They decided to "swap" puppies so that Thor could get his bump thoroughly checked out.
On December 14th, Thor moved to San Jose for two weeks during which he gained a great deal of self-confidence, proved his mettle in roughhousing with much larger dogs, showed off world-class fetching skills, and worried his foster parents constantly because of his penchant for chewing on electrical cords!
Fortunately, his head bump was determined to be nothing serious, and in fact it shrunk in size by the end of his stay in San Jose. So, on December 28th, he traveled from San Jose to Rohnert Park for the first of FIVE legs of a trip to his new adoptive home--in British Columbia!
His new "paw-rents" adore "Wilf" and he's quickly adjusting not only to his new name, but also to his new climate! Have a great life, Wilf!!!
Puppy Baloo
Baloo was one of the "Windsor 10," ten purebred Airedale puppies surrendered to West Coast Airedale Rescue in December 2025.

After getting a quick vet check and microchipped, Baloo and his sister Coco had a fun-filled time at their foster mom's home romping around the backyard with the home's two adult male rescue Airedales, chewing on collard greens, playing with both real dog toys AND improvised ones such as Amazon packaging material!
Baloo's new Mom picked him up on December 20th, taking him home to meet his human siblings, ages 11 and 13. His new family has fond memories of the Airedale they lost just a few months earlier, but we're confident Baloo will be a big help in cheering them up!
Live your BEST life, Baloo!!! We loved knowing you, if only for a short time!
Button-Nosed Bridget
Bailey, now Bridget, Living her Best Life!

Bailey had a shaky start in life. The gentleman who purchased her from a breeder last Spring was diagnosed with terminal cancer soon afterwards. She was the proverbial "Apple of his Eye" but knowing his days were numbered he made sure that she would be provided for. Bailey was just six months old when she was surrendered to WCAR for re-homing.
Her foster parents in San Jose had quite a time with Bailey! One memorable morning, she counter-surfed the empty dog food can off the kitchen table, ran out to the dining room with it, then growled at her foster mom who tried to take the can away before she cut her mouth on it! Another time, Bailey took advantage of an open cupboard door under the kitchen sink to steal a box of SOS pads. Her foster mom was doubled over with laughter about how proud of herself Bailey looked until she realized Bailey had one of the pads in her mouth. Another struggle over property rights ensued!
After just a week of fostering, Bailey met her adoptive parents, who renamed her Bridget. She is now living with them and their dog pack on their twelve-acre property in Oregon. Everyone loves her, including her pack which includes a senior AireGirl, a retired seeing eye Yellow Lab, a retired racing greyhound and a very large, senior Mastiff!
Have the best life, Bridget!!!
Beautiful Bosky
The only owner five-year-old Bosky had ever known died at age 91 on August 4rd. Bosky was surrendered to WCAR foster parents the very next day, then spent eight days in their San Jose home.
On August 13th, her foster parents drove her to Stockton to meet up with her new adoptive parents. But issues with their cat caused her to be handed back over to WCAR on September 2nd.
Her original foster parents picked her up in Sacramento on September 3rd. At this point, a "foster failure" of sorts occurred. After a month filled with uncertainty and instability, Bosky was home for good!

Her foster parents, now adoptive "pawrents," adore her as do her same-age Rottsky sister, and her elderly Airedale sister. She loves her daily walks in an urban setting, wrestling with her sibs in the big backyard, attending Zoom Room training classes, and hanging out with her retired pawrents, whatever they're doing!
We're so glad you are home Bosky!
Abby - It's all about the Perfect Match!
As you may or may not know from perusing our website, it is all about finding the right match. There are a lot of great people and a lot of great homes, but we work very hard to make the right match for the Airedales that come into our care. Abby the Airedale has found her Furever home.

Abby has a lot of energy and a strong prey drive. Unfotunately, she wasn't a great match for an older couple that had adopted her. Luckily for Abby and everyone involved, a young woman with experience in training terriers came along and it was a perfect match!

Abby now spends her days accompanying her new person to work where she has become the office favorite and her evenings on long walks or running around her large yard. We hear she is excited to meet new people, good with other dogs, and has gotten much better not only in the bath, but on her walks. She is doing her Airedale best not to go after all of the squirrels.
We're so glad you're home Abby!
A Happy Tail for Rio - Mom of the Grass Valley 8
Five-year-old Rio, now Ria, has landed a wonderful furever home!
Thought to be the mother of the "Grass Valley 8" that were seized by Animal Control and then found homes through WCAR earlier this year.
Rio herself became a ward of Animal Control in early June. She spent a couple weeks with her foster parents in San Jose, getting groomed and spayed, honing her fetch skills, and learning a bit about urban life.
On her Gotcha Day-- 06/26/25--she was ready for her furever home, high in the hills overlooking the bay in Sausalito. She's seen here with her dad just moments after the adoption papers were signed!
Have a great life Rio!

A Happy Tail for Zoey - Now Allie
This is a happy tale about Zoey the Airedale who has been successfully adopted and is now in her forever home. Zoey was one of the 8 Grass Valley Airedales that were seized by Animal Control in early January.
We're happy to share that after weeks of putting on weight, getting healthy, and being spayed she was able to join her new Mom, Dad & little Welsh sister and will now live the good life in the desert.
So happy for Allie and her new family!

More Happy Tails
(Update Adoption Pending!) Louise - A Darling 1 Yr Old
We are teaming with Rimrock Humane Society to find Louise a home.
Rimrock was contacted by some kind folks about Louise, and what they are guessing is her mother, Thelma, as they had been hanging around their home for a few days and sleeping under their deck. Both girls had faces and feet full of porcupine quills. They were sedated to remove quills and they are now quill-free.
Louise is a happy girl but is a bit on the shy side. She would likely do well with a companion dog to help her come out of her shell. She is a bit interested in kitties but it’s hard to tell if she’s just playing so how she would do with cats is an unknown.
Louise has been spayed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, and now groomed. She was concerned with the whole grooming experience but our groomer is very patient and compassionate and kept the appointment stress-free for Louise. She never snapped or showed aggression, even though it was a whole new thing for her.
Louise does not act like she has been abused, but definitely was neglected as she has no training and has just begun house training. It's important that Louise goes to Airedale-savvy home as she is a very typical young Airedale.
Louise is 48 lbs and estimated to be about 1 year old.
Located near Washington / Oregon Stateline Transportation within WA, OR, ID, MT, and CA can be arranged
If you can give Louise a home, please submit an application to West Coast Airedale Rescue:

(Update Adopted!): Puppies
West Coast Airedale Rescue just took in 10 purebred Airedale puppies from an "accidental" mating. We've seen both parents and they are gorgeous. The pictures are on our Facebook page and we will post the here shortly.
The "Dad" is 70 lbs, very friendly and enthusiastic. The "Mom" is smaller at 65 lbs with a more slender build.
The puppies were born on August 15, 2025 so they are 16 weeks old. All of them have had their 2 sets of shots, are healthy and eating solid food.
A contract will be put in place that they be spayed or neutered when old enough. They have been socialized and have learned a few commands already e.g. Wait, Stay, Ok. We're guessing they'll mature between 60 - 70 lbs. They're darling! There are 8 males 2 females.
If you can offer a home of patience, love, activity with strong leadership and live in Washington, Oregon or California, please complete our application. The link to the application is on our Adopt page.
(Update Adopted!): Duchess the Airedale Needs a Home
Duchess just turned 9 in October, but don't think she's a creaky senior citizen. Duchess is still very active! She loves long walks, playing in the yard, and riding in the car. She is very affectionate and would love nothing better than to spend her day in your presence. Duchess is a big girl at 80 lbs - a big huggy bear.

She is current on shots, microchipped and has excellent house manners. She walks well on a leash. Her commands are a little rusty and will need to be refreshed.
Duchess is very people friendly including kids but given her size she may inadvertently knock little ones down. She is dog friendly, but would probably seek to be the dominant Diva. She does chase cats so it is a "No" on cats.
Duchess is currently in Washington with West Coast Airedale Rescue, but for the right Forever Home transportation can be arranged.
If you love Airedales and have the space in your heart & home to give Duchess what she needs, please do complete our application. The link to the application is on our Adopt page.
(Update Adopted!) Available for Adoption: Shayla the Airedale Needs a Home
Shayla loves long walks, runs (or hikes) and to play chase with the ball, but she is also happy to snuggle and watch TV on the couch. She is affectionate and likes to get hugs and give kisses.
She is well-trained and has very nice manners in the house. She doesn't chew on things that don't belong to her or counter surf. She loves all people and loves to play with her ball.

Shayla is located in Northern California. If you live in California, Oregon, or Washington and think you might be a good fit for Shelia or any other future dog, please complete our application. The link to the application is on our Adopt page.
(Update Adopted!) Tupelo - An Active 4 yr. Old
Tupelo was recently adopted from a rural shelter by a very senior citizen. It seems he was found wandering. His owners were contacted, but never responded - hence, his stay in the shelter. Within days, the adopter from the shelter realized that a healthy 4 yr old, 65 lbs male was too active and too much for her at this stage of her life.

Tupelo seems to be a happy-go-lucky boy who loves all people and dogs. He is active and would love to play with a doggie playmate and/or his peeps. We don't know about cats at this point. He is microchipped, neutered, and current on shots. He'll be getting groomed later this week.
(Update Adopted!) Pretty, Pretty Peggy Sue
Isn't she a little cutie? Peggy Sue is 45 lbs. of adorable Airedale femineity. At 8 yrs old, Peggy Sue finds herself in need of a new home through no fault of her own.

Her parents are going through a divorce and neither can give her the life she's had so they've made the painful decision to find a new, wonderful home.
Peggy Sue was brought up with another Airedale, recently deceased, and has always had doggie playmates. She has also happily lived with two cats. She loves all people and kids although she may be be a little too enthusiastic for toddlers. Make no mistake, at 8 yrs old she is still energetic and ready for adventures. She knows all her commends and responds -- maybe not as quick as one would like, but she knows!
(Update: Adopted!) Dash the Airedale
Dash – a Delightful Young Male Looking for a Home

Back in January, Rescue took in eight Airedales that were seized by Animal Control due to neglect: no food, water, or shelter. All of the Airedales were between a year and about 2 ½ years old. During the last 2 months, all the Airedales were in foster homes who got them healthy, medically fit, and did basic training. Surprisingly, it was obvious that all of these Airedales had been well loved at one time. They have wonderful temperaments, are a standard size, and have had some basic training. All have been placed in loving homes – except Dash.
Dash’s foster mom planned on adopting him, but due to changes in her circumstances, she won’t be able to do that. Dash is now available to join some lucky family.
Dash is about 1 ½ yrs old and just a delight. He is neutered and house and crate trained. He is a very energetic and active boy, enjoying life to the fullest. He has been living with a 5 ½ yr old foster Airedale brother who he loves to wrestle and a cat who has been less receptive to his curious advances. He hasn’t met a person or dog he doesn’t like. Yet, he is an adolescent Airedale and will continue to need a firm, Airedale-savvy hand to keep this boy on the straight and narrow. Right now, he’s at the mouthy stage so keeping him nibbling on the right things till he grows out of this will be important.
Dash’s ideal home would be an active family, couple, person who is Airedale-savvy and a confident leader who leads with a carrot and not a stick. He is a pleaser and lover. Always present in the moment, he tends to be a bit timid at first but will love his new routine each day that can include walks, playing with a ball, and a pupsicle to relax in his crate. He is excited come feeding time and currently uses a puzzle bowl to slow his eating. Dog savvy cats would be okay with proper introduction and given his mouthy stage, young children are not recommended.

(Update: Adopted!) Otis the Airedale
WHO WANTS A GENTLE GIANT WHO LOVES DOGS, KITTENS AND KIDS?
Otis is a 6 yr old gentle giant who is looking for his "furever" home through no fault of his own. Otis’ dad is retiring to a foreign country and feels Otis would be better in a home Stateside.
Otis currently tips the scale at 90 lbs. and although he might lose 5-7 lbs, make no mistake he is a Big Boy. But don’t let that put you off - Otis is kind, gentle, mellow and would love to be your lap dog if your lap was big enough.
Otis is neutered, current on shots, and house trained.
(Update Adpoted!) Abby the Airedale

Sweet Abby was acquired when she was just a young puppy by a well-meaning, elderly couple who had been long-time Airedale owners. Unfortunately, now in their 90s, health and mobility issues make it impossible to give Abby the life she deserves.
Abby is a sweet girl who will turn four next month and is currently available for adoption. She’s around 70 lbs. (a bit chunky), spayed, current on shots and groomed just last week. She’s had some solid obedience training, but will need a refresher. She especially needs a yard and exercise to channel all of that young Airedale energy that has been pent-up.
Abby has been living with two Border Terriers, although they did not particularly enjoy her puppy rough housing.
She’s had no experience with little kids, but given her personality she’d probably be good with dog-savvy kids aged ten or older. We’re guessing cats are a No.
