A Recent Adventure in Rescue - Airedales In Need

Jan 22nd 2025

Oh My! It’s raining Airedales in Need!! Things were calm in Rescue, over the holidays, but in January we were called in to help eight – yes, eight – Airedales seized from a breeder in Northern California. (No, we don’t know who specifically).

These Airedales will be placed in the following areas: Northern California, Oregon or Washington, Southern California, (Fresno and south).

All eight of the Airedales, six males and two females, are lovely, sweet dogs, ages from one to three years old we’re guessing. Sadly, they hadn’t been taken care of for quite awhile so they are all skinny and need to put weight on via a healthy diet and good exercise.

The girls will be somewhere in the range of 48 – 52 lbs. as they are a bit petite. There are two taller guys who will be about 70 lbs. when healthy, but the other four will range 58 – 65 lbs. as they are standard size or a bit smaller. They have natural tails that curl – very cute.

They all seem to be very affable, easy going and happy to be with a human. Three of them have happily been interviewed by kids around 8 – 10 but so far, no cats have volunteered for the test. Some of them have mixed easily with other dogs, small and large, so we have no reason not to think all would mix easily with proper introductions.

They know a few commands but all will need guidance, especially in regards to the rules of your house. They have been quite good inside as far a potty training, but it should be assumed that some effort will be needed to reinforce where outside is their proper spot. All of them will be spayed/neutered, groomed, microchipped and current on shots. One of the young females has a injury on her leg, which we’ll be taking care of before placement. The rest of the bunch seem healthy, but very underweight.

UPDATE: Six of the Eight, now have been placed. Fill out the adoption application on our Adopt page if you think you have interest.
